Course Projects

What are you most confused by or nervous about in regards to the four major projects?
For the first project, I am most nervous that I will not find a recent controversy regarding my field. Similarly, I am also nervous for the research process of the second project. I say this as I feel it will take a lot of time in advance to find professionals and examples to use for my rhetorical investigation. I am nervous however about project 3 as I am confused as to whether this public argument will be presented in front of the class.

What are you most interested in or excited by in regards to the four major projects?
I look most forward to the public argument of project 3. This project interests me the most as I enjoy arguing. Additionally, making an argument about a present-day ongoing controversial subject also interests me.

Based on your understanding of the major projects, what are the elements of this course that you have to plan ahead for? How will the coursework described in the four project assignment sheets challenge your time management skills this semester?
Elements of this course I have to plan ahead for is creating outlines, arranging appointments to conduct interviews with professionals of my field, and ask my professor any questions about the project. It is how I will use my time which will be fundamental as to how my final product of my projects will turn out. Thus, it will be vital for me to plan ahead and use my time wisely.

How has your past English coursework in high school or college prepared you for the challenges of this course? What skills will you bring into the course with you?
My past English coursework in high school has prepared me for this course. I created many different projects by certain due dates with different genre forms. Although this course was challenging for me in high school, I worked ahead of assignments which helped me succeed. Skills that I will bring into this course will be how to make my writing credible, structured and have a qualified argument.

Reflection: After writing my blog post and reading Jianna and Sarah’s posts, I realized how interest is an important factor to the course projects. If a student does not have any interest in the course project, then the planning, research and writing processes will be very difficult. Furthermore, the project would not be as successful with a little amount of interest for the project. Time management is also a major factor for how the project will turn out in the end. Additionally, after reading my classmates posts and understanding them having the same feelings as me about the course projects, I feel a little less worried about being alone as the only student struggling, as everyone else is on the same boat. I also liked what Jianna wrote as it made me feel that if I look positively at the projects, the research, planning and writing processes will be much easier to accomplish.

  1. I completely agree with you that the third project seems the most exciting. There is just a lot that can be put into it personally and there is a chance to learn more about a certain topic we're passionate about. Don't forget that it'll be important to manage time for equipment rental. That will be very important for certain projects.

  2. I'm on the same page as you with the idea that creating time is a key to success on projects. My main focus is definitely similar to yours, time allocation will be huge for this class this semester. I also feel that the third project will be extremely interesting because we get to explore topics that can bring out both the best and worst in ourselves!

  5. For the Read/Reply Reflects: Revisit Step 1.10 from "Deadline 1" to re-familiarize yourself with what the prompt is asking for….. “Be sure to... provide working hyperlinks to each individual’s post (NOTE: if these links aren’t included or don’t work or if the page it directs us to is blocked from public view, I will not be able to assign you full credit for this exercise)” (Step 1.10).
